What does your loved one need?

Physical Therapists

Physical therapists (PTs), help injured or ill people improve their movement and manage their pain. These therapists are often an important part of rehabilitation, treatment, and prevention of patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, or injuries. Physical therapists help by observing patients stand or walk and develop individualized care using exercises, stretches, manual therapy, and equipment like walkers, wheelchairs, and canes. Physical therapists educate both patients and family members about the recovery process and how to best cope with challenges.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational therapists (OTs) treat injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. Occupational therapists often develop individualized treatment plans for patients, identifying goals and activities that are meaningful to the patient. An occupational therapist may help a patient who has had a stroke dress using one-handed techniques. Occupational therapists also perform home safety assessments to decrease fall risk and provide caregiver training.

Speech Therapists

Speech therapists (STs) assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and swallowing disorders that may result from a variety of causes, such as a stroke, brain injury, hearing loss, or Parkinson’s disease. Speech therapists evaluate levels of speech, language, swallowing difficulty, and cognitive impairment and develop individualized treatment plan to counsel individuals and family members on how to cope and care for the patient.
